Sec 4E - Literary Device

This post is for Sec 4E students only, not Sec 2E.

Please put your answer in the comments section of this post.

Use the 3-Step Method when answering this question.

I will post the answer here later at about 8 pm.

The writer uses simile 'blaze like a Christmas tree inside'. What does this suggest about Leonard Mead?
1. Inside = his lungs and the Christmas lights on a tree
2. Appearance/the way his lungs behaved when he breathed the air in
3. His lungs swelled up with oxygen with each intake of air and every time it takes in the cold air , he would breathe out warm air is as though the bulb from the Christmas tree would light up from the electricity.

Or his alveoli would take in oxygen and increase  in size and he would breathe out  the warm air. His alveoli would be similar to the Christmas lights being lighted up on the tree.

What is being analysed?
What feature/quality is being compared?
What is the implied meaning?

Now that you have all set up your blog, please be aware that we would be taking it as CA3 - for being able to set up your blog and posting the required entries successfully.

To PASS CA3, you need to have posted the following as per instructions from your teacher.

1. Set up your blog successfully with a working url.
2. Given your teacher the url of your blog.
3. Set up your sidebar properly - individual pictures of your group members, their names and role.
4. Post 3 separate status reports of your work (for 3 weeks)
5. Posted drafts of your work for storyboard - at least  2 drafts as the 1st week is just a week for instructions.

Final Status Report Template

Pls refer to the template to see the jobs to be done.

Work to be completed in week beginning 22 April

Congratulations to all that had finally set up their blogs. This is the LAST week for discussion as well as planing of the various items.

  • Scripts - make sure you have uploaded all your drafts of the script. Label them in the following way- Draft 1, Draft 2 etc.
  • Label the final version like this - FINAL_(title of story). For eg, FINAL_Retribution and Forgiveness.
  • Upload all the storyboards that you have created for your story. Upload ONE image at a time according to the scenes in your story.
  • Upload all your status reports. There should be THREE reports to coincide with the 3 working weeks that you had.
  • Upload the various videos that you had taken or will take where you had practised the scenes for your story. Make sure you COMPLETE this step as it would be good practice in case something unforeseen happens to your final video.
  • You have one more week to complete this work for your SA1. All your videos should be ready for grading by 7/5 (for 2E6) and 9/5 (for 2E5). All leaders are to report to me to tell me that the group video is ready for viewing.
  • I have already seen all the blogs for 2E5 and will be rewarding the 5 marks for work that is well done. I have yet to get ALL the urls for 2E6. The latest is TODAY 23 April.
  • Please inform me personally (leader and blog admin only) if there are problems with the datelines given here for video or blog.
The dateline for the project tasks is 29/4 for all classes. Hand in the work to me personally or put in in the pigeon hole with your work labelled properly with name, index number and class. Staple all assignments together or you can put them all in a file before handing them all in.

What I need to see in your posts to date

1. Your plan for the whole video project.

You should have taken a snapshot of this before giving it to me. This is your plan. This is for 2E6 as the chosen story is Secenario 4.. If you are from 2E5, your plan would be the summary of all the scenes that make up ONE story.

2. Your status report

The status report should be the last piece of work you do at the end of the period. It should be for the last 10 minutes and everyone should contribute to it. In here you report the work that you had completed and the work you have yet to do. Then make sure you try to complete everything before the next Lit lesson. Upload all your work into the blog.

3. Your storyboard
Make sure you have drawn your plan onto the paper before taking a picture of it and then upload your one sheet or several into your blog. Make sure you explain the scenes as well.

I will look at your blogs during the weekend. If you have all that I need, you will get 5 marks.

The storyboard template

This is an example of a blank storyboard. It has 4 boxes for four scenes that you might consider for your video. If you need more scenes , just add on to the number of squares that you would need.

You can -
1. draw the pictures of your scenes, which would make it easier for you whe you do video your performance
2. write in words although this would make it much more diffciult to visualise your performance.
